31-07-2017 Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo denies tax evasion claims during Madrid court appearance.

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo denies tax evasion claims during Madrid court appearance.

Ronaldo, who has previously denied all the charges through his agents, arrived at the buildings of the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 1 in Pozuelo de Alarcon, Madrid, around 11 a.m. local time and spent an hour-and-a-half in front of Judge Monica Gomez Ferrer.
No members of the media were permitted inside the court, and a plan for the Portugal captain to read a prepared statement afterward was shelved, with a Gestifute statement instead released almost two hours later.

He said I always make my tax returns on a voluntary basis because I think we all have to declare and pay taxes based on our income.
"Those who know me know what I ask my advisers to do: have everything up date and paid promptly, because I do not want any problems.

Cristiano Ronaldo said he "has never hidden anything" and told his advisers to always make sure he paid what he owed correctly and in time, in a statement released after the Real Madrid star spent 90 minutes answering to charges of a €14.7 million tax fraud in a Madrid court on Monday morning.

Based on the evidence heard on Monday, Gomez Ferrer will then decide whether to take the case forward and set a trial date. If found guilty, Ronaldo could be ordered to pay back taxes and a fine -- which could be as high as €50 million -- and experts have said he risks a custodial sentence if he fails to comply.

This is the time to let justice run its course. I believe in justice and I hope that, in this case, once, again, there will be a fair decision," Ronaldo said.
"In order to avoid any unnecessary pressure, or any contribution to a parallel trial, I've decided I won't make any more statements on this subject until the decision is made.

Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane says Ronaldo is expected to join up with the squad on their return to Europe on Saturday. He is then unlikely to feature in the European Super Cup against Manchester United in Skopje on Aug. 8, or the Spanish Supercopa games against Barcelona on Aug. 13 and 16.

Neymar travel to Qatar to meet with PSG’s president to discuss a potential world-record €222million

Neymar set to fly out to Qatar where he will 'discuss PSG move and undergo medical'

Neymar did not return from Miami with the rest of the Barca squad following their pre-season fixtures.
Neymar  travel to Qatar to meet with PSG’s president to discuss a potential world-record €222million (£199million) transfer to Paris Saint-Germain , according to media reports.

The 25-year-old Brazilian would become the most expensive footballer of all time if Ligue 1 club PSG sign him.

Spanish press say the figure is being presented as his payment to be an ambassador for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
But it is claimed the money could be used to pay his own release clause and force a move to Ligue 1.
Qatari newspaper El Watan and various European publications claimed Neymar will visit Doha to meet PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi ahead of what would be an historic move.

Liverpool Ready To Bid £70m For Bundesliga Star: Analysing The Method Behind The Madness

Liverpool, having secured a ‘top four’ Premier League finish for the first time since their remarkable 2013-14 season, are pursuing ‘quality’ signings over ‘quantity’ under Jurgen Klopp and already brought in young striker Dominic Solanke from reigning champions Chelsea, highly rated left-back Andrew Robertson from relegated Hull City and former AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah after prolonged discussions.

The Reds, however, have struggled to land both Naby Keita and Virgil Van Dijk – two of their prime transfer targets so far despite rigorous negotiations over past couple of months.

Van Dijk has asked to let him leave and is training on his own. A deal, thus, is still on for the 26-year old Dutch centre back, but the situation regarding Keita is far more complicated due to the rigidity of his current employers RB Leipzig who are proving to be notorious negotiators and have reportedly rejected two subsequent hefty bids of £57 mil and £66 mil.

Although the Reds are plotting another improved bid of £70 mil in coming days, their desperateness of acquiring Keita in spite of having Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana, Georginio Wijnaldum, Emre Can, Marko Grujic and skipper Jordan Henderson is a subject that needs to be analysed.

The Reds, no doubt need Van Dijk over Naby Keita at this point of time due to their defensive vulnerability, the Guinean, too, is a necessity for a number of undeniable grounds.

Liverpool must not replicate a similar mistake of waiting for the new midfield sensation like they did for Borussia Monchengladbach playmaker Mohamed Dahoud last year who has joined Bundesliga heavyweights Borussia Dortmund this season for a €12 mil transfer fee.

Ralf Rangnick, Leipzig sporting director, has taken a strong stance of blocking high-profile exits and also refrained Emil Forsberg from joining Serie A giants, AC Milan.

Keita, 22, is dynamic, box-to-box and hailed for his vision, strong passing and finishing traits. He had a majestic campaign for the newly promoted Bundesliga outfit and helped them finish second behind European giants Bayern Munich. Coutinho will be explored centrally alongside Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson.

But the recent injury records of this midfield trio will leave Klopp with Gini Wijnaldum, Emre Can and youngster Marko Grujic only – who, although defensively sound, lacks attacking exposure.
A return in prestigious Champions League event will demand a quality inclusion in the middle of the park who can drive the game banking on his tireless runs in midfield with admirable dribbling, holding, snatching as well as distributing attributes and Keita holds everything that one requires to become a world class midfielder in near future.

Liverpool, understandably, have not lined up any alternative of Naby Keita yet and are still hopeful of concluding a deal by offering a hefty fee that Leipzig will find hard to ignore. But the move will be jeopardised if their third bid also gets rejected and the Reds will have to plan accordingly accepting an unforeseen defeat in pursuit of their preferred option.

Club record signing Steve Mounie grabbed his third goal in four games to give Huddersfield Town victory in their latest pre-season friendly.

Club record signing Steve Mounie grabbed his third goal in four games to give Huddersfield Town victory in their latest pre-season friendly.
In a game of few chances, the Beninese forward latched onto goalkeeper Jonas Lossl's long ball upfield before perfectly lobbing Barnsley stopper Adam Davies in the 89 minutes of the Oakwell encounter.
After witnessing a similarly strong side dispatch La Liga outfit Girona 1-0 in a behind-closed-doors clash at PPG Canalside earlier in the afternoon, it was over to Barnsley for the second double-header of the day. David Wagner's intention was to give as many of his first-team squad a full 90 minutes with just three weeks left before the club's inaugural Premier League campaign opens at Crystal Palace.
Town's line-up in South Yorkshire included 22-year-old Dimitri Cavaré – a right-back on trial from Ligue 1 side Rennes with Joe Lolley starting in the Number 10 slot,Tom Ince on the left and Collin Quaner on the right.
With Tommy Smith still out injured with a foot injury sustained in the Play-Off final win over Reading, Jonathan Hogg captained the side while Scott Malone (glute), Nahki Wells (ankle), Jon Gorenc Stanković (knee) and Michael Hefele (Achilles) were also still out injured.
Meanwhile, Australian midfielder Aaron Mooy was back in training but not available after his extended leave due to his exploits in the Confederations Cup earlier in the summer.
In an even open exchanges, the hosts continued to carry a threat down their right-hand side, particular through the impressive Andy Yiadom, with the Tykes delivering a number of good balls into the box Town were equal to.
The opening chance of the game in the 21st minute when a Barnsley set-piece saw Alex Mowatt find forward Stefan Payne in the box only to be superbly denied by Jonas Lossl.
Town arguably dominated possession in the opening 45 minutes but chances for either side were few and far between with the game opening up after the interval.
Lolley darted his way past three defenders early in the second-half only to be denied by a great recovery challenge by Tykes defender Angus MacDonald.
As the hour mark approached, Barnsley's goalkeeper Adam Davies was called into making two excellent saves in quick succession – denying Collin Quaner twice after good work from Lolley and Tom Ince respectively. After substitute Sean Scannel hit the top of the bar in the 85 minute, the game looked destined for stalemate before Mounié struck late on to in front of the travelling away support.

With Huddersfield Town's Under 23s also winning 1-0 away to Curzon Ashton it was three games, three clean sheets and three wins for the club – a good day all round.
Huddersfield Town team (4-2-3-1): Lössl; Löwe, Schindler, Zanka, Cavaré; Billing (Scannell, 72’), Hogg; Ince, Lolley (O’Brien, 82’), Quaner; Mounié
Unused Subs: Ryan Schofield, Danny Kane, Rarmani Edmonds-Green, Jordan Williams
