Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona: Liverpool set Monday deadline after talks - report

LIVERPOOL have set a Monday deadline for Barcelona to agree a fee for Philippe Coutinho, according to repots.

Barcelona and Liverpool are negotiating a deal for Coutinho, who wants to join the La Liga club.
Coutinho, 25, has handed in a transfer request and is yet to play for Liverpool this season.
And Spanish radio show Onda Cero claim time is running out for Barca to settle on a transfer fee.
According to the report, Liverpool have set Barcelona a Monday ultimatum to match their valuation of Coutinho.
The Reds have previously said they won’t sell their Brazilian gem but appear to have softened that stance in recent days.

Three bids - the last worth £118million - have been rejected by the Anfield side.
Owners Fenway Sports Group hold the final decision on the move and Onda Cero claim the Monday deadline is absolute.
Liverpool would want to sign a replacement for Coutinho if they sold him and need time to secure a move with Thursday’s transfer deadline looming.

They have already failed to sign RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita and have moved on to Bayern Munich youngster Renato Sanches.
Barca expect to complete the signing of Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona on Monday but that deal will not prevent them from continuing their pursuit of Coutinho.

Jose Mourinho sets incredible new record with Manchester United lineup against Leicester

Manchester United will field the first ever £400m team in Premier League history when they take on Leicester City on Saturday afternoon, setting a new record in the process.

The Red Devils are looking to maintain their winning start to the new campaign and Jose Mourinho has duly named a full strength team for the occasion, with Anthony Martial – so impressive off the bench – given a chance to shine from the start.
With club-record signing Paul Pogba and summer signings Romelu Lukaku, who cost an initial £75m, and Nemanja Matic, who cost £40m, also picked, it takes the total value of the lineup past the £400m mark.

Incredibly, it breaks the record held by rivals Manchester City, who have named ever-so-slightly increasingly expensive XIs in their first three matches of the new season.

Starting against Brighton, and then Everton, their side got increasingly more expensive, before culminating in a starting XI against Bournemouth that cost £376.2m.

But it could be a while before Lindelof sees pitch time in the Premier League, with the summer signing from Benfica not even named on the bench to take on Leicester at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford is the player who makes way for Martial, stopping United from naming an unchanged team for three successive league matches – something that has not happened since 2006.

Leicester, meanwhile, are unchanged from the side that beat Brighton so comfortably, with Vicente Iborra once again in midfield – the only difference from the team that scored three times at Arsenal.

After overcoming injury, Leicester’s record signing Kelechi Iheanacho – once of United’s rivals City, of course – is back in the matchday squad and will be looking to make a big impact off the bench.

Chelsea looking to beat Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham to Everton’s Ross Barkley

Chelsea are reportedly set to discuss a potential deal to sign England international star Ross Barkley on Sunday, according to The Sun.

The defending Premier League champions, who defeated London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Wembley Stadium last weekend, have been linked with the Everton midfielder before the close of the summer transfer window on Thursday (August 31).

The 23-year-old, who has 22 international caps for The Three Lions, has missed The Toffees’ start to the 2017-18 campaign due to a hamstring injury.

Barkley, who joined Everton when he was just 11-years-old, scored six goals and provided nine assists in 39 appearances in all competitions for Ronald Koeman’s side last season.

However, with less than 12 months remaining on his current deal at Goodison Park, Premier League rivals Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have all been linked with the central midfielder, who has netted 27 times overall for the Merseyside outfit.

The report suggests The Blues will hold talks with Everton on Sunday after the two teams clash in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge, with a potential £30m deal being quoted and Barkley looking for an offer of £150,000-a-week.
