Champions League play-offs

Liverpool face Hoffenheim and Celtic draw Astana in Champions League play-offs

Jürgen Klopp’s side will start as favourites against Hoffenheim, but will be tested by a side who survived relegation under Julian Nagelsmann before pulling off a surprise top-four finish.

Celtic face an 8,000 mile round trip to take on Astana, who they defeated in the third qualifying round last season. Elsewhere, France and Italy’s third-placed sides, Napoli and Nice, face each other. The winners of the ten ties will join 22 sides who have already qualified for the group stages.

The first legs, with Hoffenheim and Celtic at home, are on 15 or 16 August, with the return legs the following week. Liverpool face Crystal Palace between the two ties, and Arsenal on 27 August.

ARSENAL midfielder Jack Wilshere reportedly wants to stay and fight for his career at the Emirates.

ARSENAL midfielder Jack Wilshere reportedly wants to stay and fight for his career at the Emirates.

Wilshere returned to north London in April after suffering a fractured fibula during a season-long loan spell with Bournemouth.

And now he’s back in full training he’s apparently keen to knuckle down and work his way back into Arsene Wenger’s plans.

The Telegraph say Wilshere believes he can have a future at Arsenal.
However, their report indicates Wenger may not be planning to have him around for much longer.
Arsenal are yet to offer Wilshere an extension to his contract, which expires next June.

And Wenger is said to be willing to listen to offers for him before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

Foreign clubs are interested in prising Wilshere away from Arsenal, including Sampdoria.
The 25-year-old wants to have another crack at establishing himself under Wenger before he’ll consider a move though.

Wilshere’s hopes of making an impact back at Arsenal could be hampered by a potential swoop for Jean Michael-Seri.
The Telegraph claim Wenger has his eye on the Nice and Ivory Coast midfielder.

Real Madrid ready to sell Gareth Bale to Man Utd to fund Kylian Mbappe

Real Madrid ready to sell Gareth Bale to Man Utd to fund Kylian Mbappe

According to Spanish newspaper Marca - with Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane reportedly facing up to the reality that if he wants to sign Monaco wunderkind Kylian Mbappe then he will have to sell Gareth Bale.

But four years on, Bale could finally be heading to Old Trafford after the Madrid-based daily Marca reported that Real will have to sell one of their forwards to fund a £160m deal for Mbappe.

Bale is more dispensable than fellow 'BBC' members Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, and Real believe they will be able to shift the Welshman for around £90m, which is just above the £89m that United parted with last summer to sign Paul Pogba.

The transfers could be sped up by Mbappe becoming a target for Barcelona, who reportedly made inquiries about the player on Thursday in response to confirmation of Neymar's £198m move to Paris Saint-Germain.

When pressed about signing his compatriot Mbappe, Zidane has repeatedly said: "by August 31, everything can happen.

6 ideal replacements for Neymar at Barcelona

6 ideal replacements for Neymar at Barcelona

Neymar is set to leave Camp Nou and Barcelona need a replacement for him!
Neymar has reportedly agreed to a 5-year deal with French outfit, Paris Saint German and Barcelona will sure be looking for a perfect replacement for the 25-year old.
The gap left by Neymar in the Barcelona starting XI will be a very difficult one to fill but Ernesto Valverde now has to find the ideal one who can minimize the loss. Here are 6 players who can be targetted by Barcelona:
 06. Eden Hazard

Chelsea have a gem in the form of Eden Hazard and it's not a surprise that Real Madrid have been chasing him for years now. The Belgian is considered as one of the Top 5 footballers in the world right now and rightfully so. The Belgian, who can be signed for something around £100-£120 million, will be the closest anyone can come to replacing Neymar at Camp Nou.

05. Ousmane Dembele

Ousmane Dembele The Frenchman has it all in him to become one of the best in the world soon. He has already confirmed his desire to play for Barcelona and it's only a matter of time before he joins them. The Catalan side can sign him for less than €90 million.

04. Alexis Sanchez

Sanchez left Barca in 2014 to join the Gunners after struggling to get into Luis Enrique's starting XI.
Since leaving the Nou Camp he has become a star in the Premier League and the uncertainty surrounding his future has piqued Barca's interest.
The 28-year-old is in the final 12 months of his contract and is yet to agree new terms.
And Don Balon claim Barca could offer a lifeline to the Chile international who has reportedly been told he cannot join another Premier League side.
03. Kylian Mbappe

AS Monaco star, Kylian Mbappe is easily the hottest property in world football right now. The Ligue 1 side are demanding a fee over  MILLION for him and with Neymar moving for nearly £200 million, Barcelona can afford to sign him easily.

02. Paulo Dybala

If there is a player who is more suited to play with Messi and Suarez than Neymar, it has to be Paulo Dybala. The Argentine is one of the best attackers in the world right now and it would be ideal for Barcelona to splash the cash on him.

01. Di Maria

According to recent reports, Barcelona's #1 target to replace Neymar is Angel Di Maria. The former Real Madrid star is currently playing at Paris Saint-Germain and is 'surplus to requirements' there right now.
The Argentine outclassed Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 and has been linked with a move to Camp Nou ever since. The player knows that he set to lose his place to Neymar and is reportedly keen on leaving.
