Jose Mourinho ready to open talks with Arsenal’s £140,000-a-week Star
SEP 14, 2017
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is prepared to make an attempt
to sign Mesut Ozil at the end of the campaign. The Germany international
is likely to be available on a free transfer after having declined the
opportunity to extend his Arsenal contract earlier in the year.
According to Bild h/t Metro,
Mourinho is keen on a reunion with the World Cup winner with whom he
worked at Real Madrid between 2011 and 2013. The 28-year-old has
received a lot of stick for his performances on the playing field of
late, and it is reported that he could follow Alexis Sanchez through the
exit door next year.
Both Barcelona and United are said to have made an approach for the
attacker this summer, but the Gunners declined to do business.
Nevertheless, Mourinho is rumoured to have set his sights on pursuing a
Bosman move for the German maestro, who has won three FA Cups during his
time in England.
Ozil is currently on a weekly package of £140,000-a-week
at Arsenal, and United could easily double his wages in order to lure
him to Old Trafford. However, the German has not shown the tendency of
tracking back while defending and this may hinder any future move as
Mourinho demands more from his players.
