Carlo Ancelotti Is Already Being Linked With Two New Jobs
By
He may have been unemployed for all of two minutes, but Carlo
Ancelotti is already being linked with two new jobs, after parting
company with Bayern Munich, earlier today.
Ancelotti looked on as Kylian Mbappe ripped his Bayern team apart in
Paris, last night, with PSG handily brushing the Bundesliga giants aside
3-0 in the Champions League, highlighting that perhaps the Bavarians
have fallen behind a lot of their continental rivals under Ancelotti's
stewardship.
While only three points off the pace in the Bundesliga, behind league
leaders Borussia Dortmund, there had been rumblings of discontent for a
while at Bayern about Ancelotti's suitability as manager, with the
German champions stagnating in the Champions League under the Italian,
who is usually one of the most effective managers in Europe's elite
competition, having won it three times in his managerial career, twice
with AC Milan and once with Real Madrid.
Early season dropped points against Hoffenheim and Wolfsburg didn't
help Ancelotti's cause, with last night's humbling in the French capital
the last straw for the Italian at the Allianz Arena.
Yet, despite the premature ending to his Bavarian adventure, it
appears that the Italian coach isn't going to be short of offers, with
the Twitter rumour mill already throwing up two potential destinations
for the former Bayern manager.
Ancelotti has of course already enjoyed a spell at the San Siro,
leading Milan to a Serie A title, two Champions Leagues, a Coppa Italia
and a FIFA Club World Cup between 2001 and 2009, before he left Italy to
take over as Chelsea manager, leading the Blues to a domestic double in
his debut season in the Premier League. Ancelotti would then be
dismissed by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich a year later after failing
to successfully defend the league title.
The Italian's assistant at Bayern, former club full-back Willy
Sagnol, is being linked with the currently vacant position at the
Allianz Arena, with former Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel and
Hoffenheim's 30-year-old wunderkind manager Julian Nagelsmann also being
put forward to fill the role.
