Philippe Coutinho set to miss Liverpool's clash with Manchester City despite training and playing for Brazil as Jurgen Klopp insists it 'doesn't make sense' to rush him back
- Philippe Coutinho set to miss clash with Manchester City due to a back injury
- Liverpool say they are managing the problem which has kept him sidelined
- Despite not playing for Liverpool he has been able to play for Brazil twice
- Coutinho has been the subject of intense interest from Spanish side Barcelona
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp
has revealed that Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho is unlikely to play
against Manchester City this weekend as they continue to manage the
back injury which has kept him out of club action so far this season.
The
news comes as a surprise after the 25-year-old played twice for his
country during the international break, scoring once in two substitute
appearances during World Cup qualifying before flying home and returning
to training on Thursday.
The
news comes after Coutinho was the subject of intense interest from
Barcelona at the end of the transfer window, with the Spanish
side submitting multiple offers reaching as high as £138million, but the
Anfield club stood firm and rejected the bids for a player they always
insisted they had no intention of selling.
