Messi has made a blistering start to the season with Barcelona, hitting
eight goals in six games and helping his side open their Champions
League campaign with a win and to the top of La Liga.
Messi has been utilised as a ‘false nine’ by new Barca boss Ernesto Valverde, with Luis Suarez and new signing Ousmane Dembele flanking him in the 3-0 win over Juventus on Tuesday night.
That has left little room for striker Alcacer, who has made just three appearances this season.
Alcacer is facing a battle to make it into Julen Lopetegui’s Spain squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia next summer, unless he finds more game time at the Nou Camp.
And according to Spanish website Don Balon, Messi has made it clear that if the 24-year-old is looking to play regularly this season he needs to leave Barcelona.
Messi, Suarez and Dembele are set to be Valverde’s new strikeforce this term with Gerard Deulofeu the first back-up to replace them if one is unavailable.

The former Valencia hitman has yet to score this season and has made just one start in the 2-0 home win over Real Betis last month.
Meanwhile, Barca boss Valverde has revealed he took great delight in unleashing Lionel Messi on Juventus after being on the receiving end of the Argentina superstar's genius for so long.
The former Athletic Bilbao, Valencia and Espanyol manager said: "You always think when he gets the ball that only good things can happen for the team.
“I suffered a lot when I had to face him and now I'm enjoying him. He was heavily involved in everything.
He added: “We played against one of last season's finalists, we kept a clean sheet and we scored three goals. It was vital to get off to a winning start in the group stage."
