Transfer Talk: Everton have their man, Conte furious as another Chelsea bid rejected
Everton have made the signing of Gylfi Sigurdsson official after
weeks of negotiations with Swansea City. The Icelandic midfielder – who
registered nine goals and 13 assists in 2016-17 – becomes the
Merseyside club’s new record transfer at an initial £40 million.
A stranger twist in Everton’s transfer window sees the Express quoting Ronald Koeman as discussing the possibility of a loan for Diego Costa – who’s future at Chelsea still remains unclear.
Two time Champions League winner Jese Rodriguez will play the 2017-18
campaign at Stoke City, with his loan deal from Paris Saint-Germain announced on Twitter. The Spaniard had recently spent time playing for La Liga outfit Las Palmas.
Another name leaves the Britannia Stadium though, as Newcastle have secured German forward Joselu for £5 million. The 27-year-old has signed a three-year deal with Rafa Benitez’s side.
The Guardian reports
that Pep Guardiola is targeting West Brom’s Johnny Evans in an attempt
to add centre-back depth to Manchester City. The Sky Blues have seen an
£18 million offer turned down, however, with Tony Pulis very reluctant
to sell his captain.
Antonio Conte has been desperate to make signings since Chelsea’s horror start to the new season, yet Calcio Mercato claims that an €80
million bid for Alex Sandro was rejected. It was their third attempt at
luring the Juventus defender to London and the news is believed to have
left the manager irate.
Tottenham are on the verge of completing their first deal of the current window speculates the Mirror. Previously
linked to Manchester United, PSG defender Serge Aurier could join Spurs
for £20 million, yet it is still unknown if the 24-year-old will be
able to enter the UK.
In other news regarding Mauricio Pochettino’s team, ESPN is
reporting that Dele Alli has become a recent target of Barcelona and
Manchester City. Tottenham are looking to shut down any potential offers
though, putting a price tag of £150 million on the youngster.
