Manchester United are on red alert with ‘angry’ Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly ready to quit Real Madrid next week.
The 32-year-old stole the show with a stunning goal as a youthful Real Madrid side beat Fiorentina 2-1 in a friendly at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night.
But the Old Trafford favourite could be heading for the exit, according to reports in Spain.
United’s
former No.7 was linked with a return to Manchester earlier this summer
after he was reportedly upset over his tax evasion case.
He then
appeared to be staying until he was rocked by a five-match ban after
being sent off against Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup, after which
he pushed the referee.
The suspension has been upheld and Spanish daily El Pais reports that the Portugal international’s immediate future is uncertain.
A
source close to Ronaldo, long linked with a return to Old Trafford,
told the paper: “For now, he’s just concentrating on playing.
“He is angry about the five-game ban, but he is working just as hard with the team.
“However, we cannot guarantee whether he will stay or leave.
“We’ll see what happens in between now and August 31.”
It is unlikely Ronaldo will leave the European champions, however.
Boss Zinedine Zidane hailed his performance during Real’s win over Serie A Fiorentina.
Speaking to Real Madrid TV, he said: "That's what this man is capable of.
“We’re happy to have him here.”
