Chelsea medicals underway for Danny Drinkwater and Davide Zappacosta
Two incoming in the final hour of the transfer window
By
With just about an hour left in the 2017 summer transfer
window, Chelsea are scrambling all resources to get at least a couple
signings in before the deadline. And while the pursuits of Ross
Barkley, Fernando Llorente, and Riyad Mahrez — not to mention the
multitude of other names linked over the past few months — look set to
end in disappointment, the club are all but certain to make good on a
new wing-back in Davide Zappacosta from Torino and a new central
midfielder in Danny Drinkwater from Leicester City.
Both players are now undergoing their medicals, with
Zappacosta flying to London earlier today and Drinkwater just arriving
at Cobham.
Theoretically not all i’s have to be dotted and not all
t’s have to crossed, but all relevant documentation needs to be
submitted to FIFA’s transfer system before the 11pm deadline in order
for the transfers to become official.
Let’s hope the Wi-Fi’s working (we no longer use fax machines).
